Perfect Location - Memorable Stay
by J. H. - chicago

09 Jan 2009

Not knowing where to stay in Paris, I was very happy to find the Hotel Ascot Opera on quiet street with a perfect location. It filled my expectations of what it is like to stay in Paris, enough that I have already been back once and would stay there again.

The hotel itself is said to have been the house of the composer Offenbach, and has plenty of charm. It is tucked away two blocks from Blvd de Quatre Septembre, a main street. It is only a five minute walk to the Opera and fifteen to the Louvre. The Passage Choiseul - a covered shopping passage is hidden away around the corner. There’s a good used bookstore there and interesting, non-expensive places to eat. The neighborhood has lots of local interest and is also about 10 minutes walk to the big department stores (both Galleries Lafayette and Au Printemps) as well as to many restaurants on Blvd. des Italiens. The metro is at the end of the block, about 2-3 minutes walk.

I heard about the Asoct Opera because a French conference advisor recommended it as a economical place to stay in the neighborhood. The rooms are well maintained and the housekeeping has high standards. The rooms are very clean. The coffee and rolls at breakfast are very fresh. The staff and the management took very good care of me.

I am looking forward to going back some day.
