Very disatisfied

I am writing to complain about the service we received from this hotel.
Myself and my colleague booked this 3 star hotel and were looking forward to the central location for business purposes.
When we arrived, we were told by staff member that we were being taken to “other house” in their words.
We assumed that this was another building belonging to the hotel and boy were we wrong!!
A non- English speaking gentleman proceeded to escort us for approximately 10 mins by foot I might add.
We met another gentleman who joined us in being led by this hotel ascot rep. We were dropped off at another hotel that we assumed would be the same standard and boy were we wrong again!
The rooms were tatty needing decorating,the bed was like a futon 12 inches from the floor!! the bathroom had no shower curtain and 2 complimentary sachets lying on the side of the bath. There was no hair dryer and no wi fi access and the carpet really needed a good hoovering. This was supposed to be a 3 star hotel. We complained to the staff who told us that Hotel Ascot phoned them to ask if they had any free rooms so it was not really their problem. We did not have the time to walk back to the hotel to complain direct so I am writing now.
We think that this really deserves some sort of compensation as being pregnant I was really unhappy with the treatment we received and my colleague could not wash her hair for time we were there.
This does not seem to be what this hotel has advertised and would like a reply on this please.
